Unire gli ingredienti in uno shaker colmo di ghiaccio. Agitare energicamente fino a quando la bevanda non è sufficientemente fredda. Filtra la bevanda nel bicchiere Cocktail freddo.

This recipe was a new variation at the Savoy's American Bar that employed Fernet-Branca as an ingredient, coming almost two decades after the Corpse Reviver appeared in the Savoy Cocktail Book with its №1 and №2 variations. Salvatore Calabrese states in his book Classic Cocktails that it was created by Johnny Johnson of the Savoy circa 1948, and lists it as a Corpse Reviver №3. Others believe it was invented later in 1954 by Joe Gilmore, also of the Savoy.

Besides Calabrese, the Fernet version is sometimes categorized by others as the Corpse Reviver №3, but it is not standardized and it is sometimes referenced as the №4.

Fernet: Il fernet è un liquore della famiglia degli amari, molto alcolico, bevuto prevalentemente come digestivo o come aperitivo, a base di erbe aromatiche quali - ad esempio - china, rabarbaro e genziana. L'origine del termine fernet è ignota, ma già alla fine del Settecento è citata una ricetta per il rimedio del dottor Fernet (o Fermet). Era indicato come un elisir di lunga vita inventato dal medico svedese Fernet, morto all'età di 104 anni per una caduta da cavallo; grazie al preparato il nonno del medico sarebbe morto all'età di 130 anni, la madre a 107 e il padre a 110. Altre fonti ottocentesche indicano Vernet come possibile nome del medico svedese.
