Cócteles con Donn’s Mix

The Donn's Mix Syrup was created by Donn Beach, founder of Don the Beachcomber, and it's an essential ingredient of the Zombie cocktail.

Ingredients

3 cinnamon sticks, crushed
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Fresh grapefruit juice

Directions

1. Put cinnamon sticks in a zip lock bag and bash a few times with a rolling pin. Combine the broken cinnamon sticks, sugar, and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Let simmer for 10 minutes.

2. Remove from heat and let steep for 15 minutes.

3. Strain cinnamon syrup into a container with a mesh strainer. Let cool.

4. Add grapefruit juice to cinnamon mixture and shake.

5. Mixture can be stored, sealed, in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, though it's tastiest when fresh.
